Our side undone by Kingston Hawthorn 1st XI on home soil

In Kookaburra Men's Premier action, our Essendon 1st XI came up short against Kingston Hawthorn 1st XI on Saturday at Essendon Cricket Ground.

Batting first, we posted 8/225 from 50 overs. Connor Poulton's 50 off 82 balls was a half-century to remember. Emerson White passed fifty on the way to 50 off 55 balls with four fours and two sixes. There were also handy runs from Harry Duke (46).

In reply, Kingston Hawthorn 1st XI passed our total, finishing on 4/227 in 46.3 overs. Credit to Josh Manning, who made a half-century (79) for the visitors. With the ball, Jackson Martin did the damage, claiming two for 45 off ten overs.

We'll take the lessons from this one and go again. We will be looking to get back in the winning column soon.

We'll go again.
