On Saturday at Mervyn G Hughes Oval, our Essendon 2nd XI lost out to Footscray 2nd XI on a frustrating day.
The scorecard reads Essendon 2nd XI 10/279, Footscray 2nd XI 7/408. Take a bow, Ethan Brne: a brilliant 109 not out off 160 balls with fourteen fours. Credit to Bailey Toseland, who took three for 100 for our opponents.
Aaron Cornish bowled nicely to finish with four for 117. A century to Declan O'Brien for the hosts: 177.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. The results haven't gone our way lately, but the team will keep at it. Back to the nets, and on to the next one.
