It wasn't to be for our Essendon 3rd XI, who went down to Northcote 3rd XI despite Jackson Martin's 81.
Northcote 3rd XI's innings ended at 9/315, ours at 10/236. Jackson Martin passed fifty on the way to 81 off 105 balls with fifteen fours and two sixes. Heath doherty made 45 off 38 balls. Zac Mills bowled impressively for our opponents, a five-wicket haul of five for 53.
The wickets were shared around, with Aaron Cornish taking three for 75. Hats off to Ryan Siede, whose 100 not out was a classy century for the hosts.
We'll take the lessons from this one and go again. A tough stretch, and one the side will be determined to end. Congratulations to our opponents on the win.
