It just wasn't our day: our Essendon 4th XI lost out to Fitzroy Doncaster 4th XI at Oval #1 West.
Across the match we made 10/209, with Fitzroy Doncaster 4th XI on 8/329. Fifty for Samin Shafquat, who finished with 50 off 59 balls. There were also handy runs from Dilawar Ali (32). Samuel Hoyne bowled well for our opponents, taking four for 43.
Prageeth Edirisinghe returned figures of three for 81 off twenty overs. Credit to Lucas Hales, who made a half-century (96) for the visitors.
There are plenty of positives to take out of this one. A tough stretch, and one the team will be determined to end. Plenty to work on, and plenty to like.
