In Kookaburra Men's Premier, our Essendon 4th XI got up against Kingston Hawthorn 4th XI with Hady Hegazy leading the way.
Kingston Hawthorn 4th XI set the target, making 8/218 from 45 overs. Credit to Noah Mccolough, who made a half-century (94) for the hosts. Fifty for Aditya Chowdhary, who made 58 for our opponents. Prageeth Edirisinghe led the way with the ball, finishing with two for 40. Stephen Buhagiar finished with two for 43.
In reply, the boys reached the target at 10/224 in 36.5 overs. Hady Hegazy passed fifty on the way to 56 off 49 balls with nine fours. Pahul Singh Sodhi added a useful 42 off 39 balls. The hosts' best with the ball was Arish Surani (three for 9).
A first win of the season, and hopefully the first of many. Well done to everyone involved.
