There was no joy for our Essendon 1st XI, who were bettered by Fitzroy Doncaster 1st XI with lessons to take away.
Our totals were 221, against Fitzroy Doncaster 1st XI's 8/222. Ikroop Dhanoa passed fifty on the way to 75 not out off 166 balls with five fours and two sixes. Connor Poulton brought up a polished half-century, finishing with 65 off 160 balls. Five wickets for Braden Taeuber of the hosts, who returned five for 60. Rupptaz Kharoud chipped in with four for 34 for our opponents.
Six wickets for Noman Safdar, who returned six for 74 off 22 overs. Credit to Samuel Elliott, who made a half-century (64) for the hosts.
There were some good individual efforts to build on. It's eight defeats on the trot, and the team will be eager to bounce back. Congratulations to our opponents on the win.
